‛Body and Mind‛ accupressure provides relief from pain and tension, both physical and emotional, while also creating a deep sense of relaxation. This form of acupressure treatment encourages the body's own natural healing abilities and is an effective treatment for many ailments including fatigue, headaches, shoulder pain, neck and back pain, joint problems, respiratory and digestive problems, insomnia and emotional and muscular stress.
With ‛body and mind‛ acupressure, the therapist applies gentle yet deep finger pressure on specific acupressure points and uses ‛body focusing‛ techniques to help release pain and tension. When pressure is gradually applied to the acupressure points and held long enough, it creates an awareness of the physical and emotional stress. This awareness enables the body to release the pain and tension and create a state of deep relaxation.
Body and mind acupressure combines time-proven Asian forms of acupressure with modern western techniques. This form of acupressure is based on elements of traditional Chinese medical practices and beliefs, where vital life-force energy flows through ‛meridians‛ - specific energy pathways through the body. When these meridians are blocked, tension forms around the acupressure points leading to an imbalance in the body's energy flow. The application of body and mind acupressure encourages and balances these flows of energy through the body.
At Freedom Within, I practice and teach Jin Shin Do® Bodymind Acupressure®. "Jin Shin Do" translates to "The Way of the Compassionate Spirit" and this style of body and mind acupressure includes traditional Japanese and Chinese healing techniques such as Taoist philosophy and Qigong (breathing and exercise techniques).
